在香港的藝術家面對著展覽成本高昂，空間缺少的老問題，因而萌生了微型藝術空間的念頭。
不經不覺百呎公園快將踏入第三年，由2012開始於上環的樓上二手書店只有100平方英呎的小房間開始，到現在轉折落戶到近大角咀的荔枝角道，前前後後舉行了差不多二十個不同類型的展覽。當中運作的經驗，使我們發展了一些獨特的運作方式，展現了小型藝術空間的可能性。
是次展覽，我們以「過去與現在」為主題，將過往的資料進行整理和結集，以書刊形式來展示過往的百呎公園，也解答大家對我們的提問。「現在」部份則在“油街實現”實現多一個百呎公園，與藝術家合作進行展覽， 在港九兩個空間同步進行展覽，好好運用這個優秀的新空間。
回想初衷其實很簡單，公園面向藝術家們，填補一些當下從事藝術創作者缺乏但卻需要的空隙，讓藝術家從中得到展覽與實驗的空間，創造更多的可能性。觀眾亦有一個認識更多層面的創作，令大家都不局限於藝術館與商業機構所建構出來的視界。
百呎公園幾個人能做的事情其實不太多，人手、空間、智慧也畢竟有限，一直需要各方朋友們內外的協力與合作，但我們更希望透過百呎公園來嘗試開拓大家對未來的想像，期待更多不同的藝術空間能夠在未來出現。
畢竟︰「香港實在太狹窄了！您懂的…」
As exhibition cost is so high while space is so scarce in Hong Kong, we come up with an idea of miniature art space.
It’s been three years since 100 ft. Park was started in a small room that was 100 sq. ft. room at a Sheung Wan upstairs second-hand bookshop. And we have now moved into Lai Chi Kok Road in Tai Kok Tsui. From the experiences we earned from running almost 20 different exhibitions, we have developed a distinctive operating system that unfolds possibilities for miniature art space.
By organizing and assembling previous information, we showcase the past of 100 ft. Park and answer your questions in the form of books under our theme “Past and Present”. The “Present” from the theme is the set up of another 100 sq. ft. Park at “Oi!” in parallel with another two spaces in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island at the same time, hoping we could make good use of the exceptional new space.
Recalling our simple first intention, which is to allow artists a space for exhibitions, experiments, and to create more possibilities, the space focuses on artists, fill in what’s missing yet the artists in deed need to have. It also allows audience to understand creativity at different levels, and can stand outside the limited vision that art museums and commercials entities have created.
In spite of the few staff members we have in 100 ft. Park, our manpower, space and wits are still limited and we need friends from all over the places to unite and work together. We also hope to try expanding our imagination on the future of 100 ft. Park, while wishing to see more different art space emerging in the future.
After all, “Hong Kong is too narrow! You know what I mean…”
